ROOT CANEL TREATMENTS(ENDODONTICS)

Generally root canal treatment is perceived as very painful and dreaded procedure. But at Smiline we hope to change this by offering painless, minimum discomfort if possible, single sitting root canal treatments. We can also claim that our post fillings discomfort is minimum. Success rate of root canal treatment at Smiline are very high due to cutting edge technology used like protaper, lasers and good sterilization protocol followed.

STEPS INVOLVED IN ROOT CANAL TREATMENT:
  • An opening is made through the crown of the tooth into the chamber where the pulp is found.
  • The pulp is removed, and the root canal/s are cleaned and shaped into a form that can be filled easily.
  • Medications to prevent infection may be placed in the pulp chamber.
  • Your dentist may leave the tooth open in order for it to drain, however often a temporary filling is placed in the crown of the tooth to protect it until your next visit. Antibiotics may be prescribed to help prevent infection.
  • The temporary filling will be removed, and after cleaning, the pulp chamber and root canal/s will be filled.
  • Finally, your dentist may place a crown (either porcelain or gold) over your tooth.

Endodontic Retreatment

Why do I need another endodontic procedure?

As occasionally happens with any dental or medical procedure, a tooth may not heal as expected after initial treatment for a variety of reasons:

Endodontic Surgery

Although there are many surgical procedures that can be performed to save a tooth, the most common is called Episectomy or root-end resection when inflammation or infection persists in the bony area around the end of your tooth.

Cracked Tooth

Because people are living longer and more stressful lives, they are exposing their teeth to many more years of crack-inducing habits, such as clenching, grinding, and chewing on hard objects. These habits make our teeth more susceptible to cracks. Symptoms of cracked teeth are erratic pain when chewing or pain when your tooth is exposed to extreme temperatures .Extensive cracks can lead to infection of the pulp tissue which can spread to the bone and gum tissue surrounding the tooth
